My dear M,

It is some little time since I wrote my last letter. I think it was last Monday on my return from Hominy. On that evening Wa-sho-she of Hominy came to teach me what he remembers of the rite of weaving of the rush mat for the sacred bag, so since Tuesday morning I have been very busy early and late and I have only within [[insert]] the last [[/insert]] two hours finished it. Not only that, I have secured the Wa-xo-be a-wa-thon degree. He being a Hon ga most of the songs are very different from those given me by Saucy Calf who was a Tho-xe- (Willow or buffalo), affiliated with the Ni-ka-wa-konda-gi or Thunder people. There are some things both in the music and songs and rituals that are extremely interesting, particularly one of the Spirit songs. It is very like a part of the Third [[Mannic?]] degree  It sings of a man who went to the spirit land and was sent back by the spirits when his feet fell apart from
