My dear M,
Yesterday I received your two letters one dated Aug. 9 and the other the 6". I am sorry that Susan is not prompt in answering Mrs. Kinney's letters but this time I think she has some excuse. She has been in very bad health and has had to go through an operation which left her in bad shape. I know next to nothing as to the organization for the hospital being built at Walthill. Susan never writes to me unless it is to ask for something or to complain of her land matters. She once asked me to fit up a room in the hospital but I have not given it any attention. In an institution of the kind an organization of some kind is necessary to transact the business and it may be that there is one but I have never heard that
