to describe them. I want to make particular mention of this in the book. The man and his wife were both to give up this interesting relic but they consented to let it go as an acknowledgment of their gratitude to me for some help that I am giving them in their business matters. They would have given me the thing outright but I had named a price for it before I had helped them out and so I insisted upon carrying out the offer. Before giving it to me the woman held the thing up to the sun and made a long prayer. I think I wrote you this on my return from Gray Horse last Friday.

I have just written out the story of the hawk and the horned owl. It is good and full of meaning. I shall try to type-write it this afternoon.
