My dear M,
This will be just a short letter to you as it is near the hour of closing the post office for the day and I am thinking that there might be a letter from you, altho I go one yesterday. I am very glad that you are going to have Mrs. [[Hovey?]] to dinner and that afterward you go to Misses Spofford and Nicolay. You will have a good time and I am glad of that.

Have just had a call on the telephone inviting me to dinner by one of the mixed bloods and I have accepted because I want him to tell me some hi'gon that his grandmother used to tell him. He seems to know a good deal about such things. He gave me some interesting things before.

I will soon be writing Mr. Hodge
