My dear M,

Have seen several Osages yesterday afternoon, and all were glad to see me. I may see Bacon Rind today, the man I am after. He had been at the sick bed of his brother at Tulsa for some time and he is expected here today.

As I go to mail this I shall see if my boxes have come, and if they have will send them right up so as to be ready for B. C, when he is to give me the information I want.

Cato Sells is here and he had a general meeting with the Indians at the dance house. There was a small attendance I was told. He again in a vigorous fashion declared his friendship for the Osages but as nothing in the way of granting the wishes of the people follow these declarations, the Indians took it with indifference. He told them he is willing to have them select an attorney to look after their business but they must choose a man who is perfectly honest. Some of them thought he expected [[inserted]] the Indians [[/inserted]] to say that he was the perfectly honest man but no one made any suggestion in that direction. He has sent for Bacon Rind, Fred Lookout
