Early in the month a circular letter asking for information regarding color phases of the Screech Owl ([[underlined]] Megascops asio [[underlined]]) was prepared, and over 300 copies distributed. A large number of replies have been received, embodying a very considerable amount of valuable information on an interesting subject, which will be carefully collated by Mr. E. M. Hasbrouck, who is conducting the investigation, and has been given every facility for the work which the department can afford.

Owing to lack of trays, no further work has been done with the rearrangement of the collection.

A revised plan and estimates for an exhibit of birds at the World's Columbian Fair were prepared.
