time during September was required for the supervision of work on bird groups for the World's Columbian Exposition. The general character of groups contemplated had to be explained to the taxidermists employed on the work, specimens selected and purchased for the purpose, drawings made showing positions in which specimens were to be mounted, and numerous details which it is unnecessary to mention categorically.

Satisfactory progress has been made with the bird-group work, one group being at this date (Oct. 16th) been completed, and others under way.
