A donation from the Citizens of Boston has been placed in the hands of Maj Genl N. A. Miles Hon W. W. Holden * R. W. Pulliam Esq for the purchase of necessaries for destitute sick infirm and feeble children in this state without respect to color or political opinion. The Committee have instructed me to appropriate Two hundred dollars of this fund to Randolph County- and have named the following Committee to carry out the donors intentions

Rev Dr Baxter Craven of Trinity College
S. S. Jackson of Asheboro and yourself.  A draft for the amount will be sent to Dr Craven and if you consent to serve please communicate with him
