Miles Chairman of the Committee for distribution of the Boston Fund I herewith transmit check on Raleigh National Bank for Fifty dollars to be expended on account of said fund in the purchase of necessaries for the sick aged & infirm, You are suggested in connection with the other gentlemen named to sign enclosed receipts and return to this office and to furnish invoices of articles purchased

The citizens of Boston having placed in the hands of a Committee a considerable amount of money to be expended in the purchase of necessaries for the sick, aged, infirm and feeble children, without regard to race or political opinion, and as Wilmington has received no share of this fund I am directed by the Assistant Commissioner (Chairman of the Committee) to request you to form a Sub Committee for Wilmington and vicinity to whom will be given Four hundred dollars for the purposes named.  In the formation of this Sub Committee you are desired to consult with Rev J. B. Watson and Mr. French. The Committee to consist of not less than three persons.
