Sir:

Your communication to Rev. [[underlined]] F. A. Fiske, [[/underlined]] in regard to destitution in your neighborhood was referred by him to these Hd. Qrs.

There being no supplies issued by the Government at present, no assistance could be rendered, were it not from the fact of there being still on hand a small amount of the Fund donated by the Citizens of Boston. This Fund was particularly designed for distribution amoung the aged & infirm, but in view of the destitution prevailing in your vicinity, the Committee having charge of the same have appropriated One hundred & fifty dollars for the purchase of food for the deserving in your neighborhood.. and at their request transmit check for am't.

Be pleased to associate with yourself one or two other gentlemen as a Committee, and sign with them the enclosed receipts returning the same to me.

You are also requested to report how the same shall have been expended.

I am Major

"Chur" instead of "Churr"--He writes his name with a lot of curves for the "h," "u," and "r." (In other letters, you will notice other people often misspell his name as "Churr."
