HEADQUARTERS DEPARTMENT OF NORTH CAROLINA, Raleigh, North Carolina, November 17th, 1865. GENERAL ORDERS, NO. 160. I. In compliance with orders from the War Department, Surgeon D. W. HAND, (Brevet Colonel,) U. S. Volunteers, is relieved from duty as Medical Director of the Department of North Carolina. The Commanding General takes this occasion to return his thannks to Surgeon HAND for the intelligent and faithful manner with which, for more than two years, he has performed the arduous and responsible duties of Medical Director of the District and Department of North Carolina. II. Surgeon R. H. COOLIDGE, U. S. A., having reported at these Headquarters in compliance with orders from the War Department, is announced as Medical Director of the Department of North Carolina.
