Report of Condition of Freedmen and Operations of the Freedmen's Bureau in the Sub-Division of Edenton under the charge of Lieut. C. W. Dodge V.R.C. for the fifteen days ending May 27th 1868.

One them referred to the Grand Jury of Gates County.  Three of the others will be referred to the next Grand Jury of Chowan Co.  Six claims of colored men for services in the Engineer Dept. U.S. Army have been forwarded.  Received the application of Three mothers to have their children (who are bound out) returned to them.  Two were returned [[strikethrough]] and another will be. [[/strikethrough]]  Two cases of debt have been investigated.  Attended the County Courts of each county in this Sub. Div. except Perquimans.  It was impossible for me to procure conveyance from Edenton (either public or private) during the session of Perquimans Court.
