In reality I found out that these things were not true.  I found out that the Soviet people with whom I came into contact were just normal people with the same likes, dislikes and desires as the american people. Most all the people I came into contact with were kind and considerate.  I was forced to do nothing.  They gave me books to read to occupy my time and they were not political books.
