[[underlined]] Jamestown N.D. [[/underlined]]

[[underlined]] July 14. [[/underlined]] Took a long tramp across valley and over bluffs at edge and out on prairie. Got a good list of plants & birds & found Citellis richardsoni abundant. Found no trace of Upper Sonoran unless the Cottonwoods be considered so. They are common in town & along the river & at ranches out on prairie. The main native timber is elm, ash, & boxelder along streams & in gulches.

Tyrannus verticalis is perhaps the only bird that seems out of its range. They are common & breeding. Saw 4 in one bunch of trees.

The principal crops around Jamestown are wheat with some oats, barley, rye, flax & potatoes. Early corn is tasseled out in gardens. [[strikethrough]] but [[/strikethrough]] One large field of corn is fairly good, kneehigh and thrifty, but will not ripen probably. Other fields of corn are very small & poor.
