Next morning we had breakfast and then went to the Cathedral. One of the towers is as yet unbuilt. The edifice was quite magnificent but is getting to old I imagine its age to be the cause of much strengthening beamwork that occupies the space at the rear of the church. There are no pews - but the centerplace was filled with a crowd of kneeling people who used the regular shortened chairs for the purpose. The stonework and tower is remarkable. The figures in relief and life size are tremendous and as wonderful as all the work of this nature I've ever marveled at -- the center door especially.
