"THE PINES" A Real Home St. Johns Ave. and Crotty Place, Yonkers. Our Babies Brought to our Children's Home when only a few days old, they have been reared by the most approved scientific methods. These little babes, so very wee, Whose lives have just begun, Will never see, like you and me, The birds, the flowers, the sun. School Age From an early age the blind child should be taught to overcome his handicap and to see with his fingers. This can best be accomplished in a Home adapted to the Blind. There he feels his equality and can enter into the life around him, instead of being dragged along - always an outsider. Through specialized training he gains freedom of motion, independence and a normal point of view. Music, dancing and athletics are important factors in this development. Our children attend the Public School and many have won honors for scholarship in competition with the sighted. Off to College Barney is now a Sophomore in Columbia and Solomon has just entered Cornell. He is being trained to be a teacher to the Blind. The accompanying picture shows the half-glad, half-sad moment when he was leaving for College. The future of each of our children is being carefully considered and his career planned for. Page Four
