DARKNESS TO LIGHT

~

Darkness

Poor, lonely, uncared, unwanted--this is the sad life of many an old blind man and woman before he is transplanted to our Home at Yonkers. Alone--with his misery and his memories--all is darkness! But our Homes are full. We can admit no more. We have bought 11 1/2 acres of land on Saw Mill River Parkway, Yonkers, and now we must build at once, that the needy blind who call on us may have a refuge and happiness.

Light

In the Guild's Home, with its spacious grounds, these old blind men enjoy comfort, companionship and work. Taught rug weaving, brush making, etc., their goods find a ready market in Yonkers. The resident Rabbi watches over them and carries on services daily and on Holy days. Our Homes are full to capacity. We must build NOW, that those who are waiting outside may come in.

SOMEBODY'S MOTHER

There, no longer is want to harass nor loneliness to distress. All Life's burdens are borne for them and these aged blind women know a comforting peace at last.

Love and friendship here abide
Shedding joy on every side
Life doth softly, sweetly glide--
In our Home Sweet Home.
