[[underlined]] Masterpieces of Five Centuries: Forty-Eight Paintings and Sculpture from The Norton Simon Foundation [[/underlined]]

Rembrandt's world-famous portrait of his son, Titus, will be among the highlights in the forthcoming exhibition [[underlined]] Masterpieces of Five Centuries: FortyEight Paintings and Sculpture from The Norton Simon Foundation [[/underlined]] which will open to the public on October 4 at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. 

The exhibition, which will remain at the Museum for at least one year, constitutes "the single most important loan of Western European paintings ever to be seen at one time in Houston," said Phillippe de Montebello, Director, in announcing the exhibition.  "It is a privilege to display such a large portion of what is possibly the best known and certainly one of the most important collections of master paintings and sculpture in the world outside a Museum building," he added.

"This extraordinary loan will give our visitors an opportunity to view masterpieces from schools not adequately covered in the permanent collection of Houston's Museum," said Alexander K. McLanahan, President of The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. "We are most gratified at this opportunity to exhibit a significant portion of the superb Norton Simon collections."

Among several paintings of the Italian Renaissance are rare panels by Botticelli and Piero di Cosimo, and at the top of the group from the Northern Renaissance
