Dear Mrs. O'Brien:

As I know you are very keenly interested in the 18th century English school, I thought I would let you know that we have just acquired the famous portrait of Lady Lovat by Sir Thomas Lawrence.

This painting, which has always been considered to be one of the family's cherished heirlooms, was painted in 1823, one year before the celebrated "Master Lambton" belonging to the Earl of Durham. This portrait is in perfect condition and most brilliant in color, as Lady Lovat is seen wearing a bright scarlet velvet dress.

We also have a very fine landscape by Hubert Robert, which has just been given us for sale by one of our clients, who is willing to dispose of it for a fraction of its original cost.

If you would be interested to see either of these paintings, we would be very pleased to show them to you at any time you could conveniently call in here.
In the meanwhile,

Believe us to be,

Yours very truly,
Jacques Séligmann & Company,Inc.
