Dear Mr. Paley,

I was very sorry to learn upon my arrival in Philadelphia that you were not well. Your secretary told me that I could look forward to the pleasure of your visit in New York. However, from time to time, I make trips to Philadelphia where we have several clients, and I would gladly call on you again.

I had brought with me photographs of several very interesting paintings, one of them being an extremely fine and important Benjamin WEST which I thought might interest you, especially as Benjamin WEST is generally considered as having been a Pennsylvanian.

Hoping there will be an opportunity to meet you, kindly believe me,

Yours very truly,

Jacob Paley, Esq.,
Congress Cigar Co.,
3rd & Spruce Sts.,
Philadelphia, Pa.
