February 14, 1957

My dear Sir:

In your letter of February 2nd, you expressed the desire, for the purpose of a study on iconography, to obtain a photograph of my firm's painting "The Vision of Saint Joseph" by Philippe de Champaigne. I take pleasure in sending you herein a print with my compliments.

The dimensions you indicated of 18 x 24 correspond roughly to the format in inches we are using here. May I call your attention to the indication on the back of the photograph as regards copyright, reproduction, etc.

I am not giving you any additional information as regards the pedigree of the painting and you seem to be well posted about it. However if need be may I refer you to the retrospective exhibition of Philippe de Champaigne organized by the Louvre Museum in 1952, in which it was included under Number 16, Plate 65.

Trusting this photograph will answer your purpose,

With best greetings,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
