Sir:- Having completed the installation of the popular bird exhibit in the wall-cases of the "South Entrance", I take pleasure in submitting herewith a general description of the plan of exhibit, together with suggestions or recommendations for rendering it more complete and useful. The leading idea which I have had in view is a carefully selected series of specimens which shall include every species of bird likely to be asked for by visitors, and a printed catalogue which will at once enable the inquirer to locate the specimen sought by means of a simple system of reference numbers attached to the sections of the cases and the shelves within.
