played a number several selections & then the rains came, first real rain we've had our several days in Dominica. Didn't last long, & visitors & orchestra went home after inspecting our ship. No, no refreshments were served or brought.

While we were collecting in the water Al Smith & Clarke went ashore (first in the launch we used) to climb Ruperts Bluff to N.W. of Bay. On way up ws an old abandoned hospital used in war times and on top of bluff we found and old cannon there since days of English and French warring in these parts. Most of the islands changed hands several times, & French and English names are scattered indescriminately through them.

Got to bed at 11 swelling from infection better. Am definitely on the mend.

Wind is good. Will be a day of sailing without using engine, about second day of kind. Usually we have sails and engines going at same time.
