Mr. G. A. Seaman
Box 472, Christiansted
St. Croix, Virgin Islands

Dear Mr. Seaman:

The fairy shrimps from Barbuda, which were included in the collection sent to Dr. Schmitt under your letter of September 10, have now been identified by Dr. Ralph W. Dexter of Kent State University, Kent, Ohio. Dr. Dexter writes: "I thought for sure these would be [[underlined]] Streptocephalus similis [[/underlined]] when I received the specimens, but actually they are [[underlined]] S. texanus [[/underlined]] which, as far as I know, represents a new locality record." You can therefore take credit for another new record from this interesting island.

If we are able to obtain a name for the amphipods from the Barbuda cave, we will let you know. They should be of considerable interest.

Thank you for your hospitality during our stay in St. Croix. Because of people like you, we enjoyed our visit there fully as much as we did those to the other islands where we collected. Thank you also for sending the interesting material for our collections.

Sincerely yours,
