Dear Sir:
A [[underlined]] Mr. Garfield [[/underlined]] from New York called on me this morning. He has good papers and wants to teach, and I think would do first rate for the school at Shepherdstown. He is quite a good appearing young man. His brother is with him, and he also wants to teach. I told them I would write to you to-day and probably would get a reply by Wednesday morning. I wish you would go to Shepherdstown and see if you cannot arrange the matter. If it is all right I will send one or both along. I hope you will not fail to make the arrangement for one of them at Shepherdstown. May be there is a white school for the other.

Very Respectfully Yours

Dear Sir:
Genl. Howard says he will help them, at Hagerstown, with the Brick needed and in other ways such as they want to the amount of three hundred dollars ($300,00). I have not the plan of the Martinsbury House. If they want a house at Hagerstown 25 x 50 ft. and 12 ft. posted, I would let them have it, and have the plan made out like the Martinsburg house.

Please send me School Report as printed by the Legislature for last year. It is more full than VanBoklin's report which I have.

How does the School Bill come on?
