Dear Sir:

Has your Department done anything toward the erection of a school house at Broad Neck, Ann Arundel Co. Md? or do you know anything of that place? Maj. [[underlined]] VanDerlip, [[/underlined]] at Annapolis writes me that he has a deed of land for a school at that place. (B.N.)

Please reply and oblige.

Dear Sir:

Your school was to close Sept. 17th, but we will continue it till Oct. 1st, if you would like to stay, and can keep up a large school. Try and have them pay up everything as they go along, and get the house plastered.

Capt. [[underlined]] Lawrence [[/underlined]] will send you some money right away.

Very Respectfully, Yours,

Dear Sir:

I was glad to get a letter from you today. I will try to find Isaac Harris, but you know that in a city of this size it is not an easy matter.

How is the school getting on at Romney, and is the house done at Moorfield? I am trying to get them to build a house at New Creek, but don't know as I shall succeed. You know about the house at Wardensville. Is it a good one, on a good lot of ground deeded for a colored school? And will a good school be carried on? I shall be glad to hear from you about this place, and anything else you choose to write.

Very Respectfully, Yours,
