I understand from your letter that you are a shite teacher, if you were colored I could employ you. As you are I have no place at present, should any turn up, I will let you know. I cannot get board for many white teachers in the county.

Respectfully Yours

Sir

We have already aided in building the Freedmens School house at your place, to the amount of $625.00. I am glad to know that with this aid, you have a excellent house. Our funds are limited and with the call for so many places for a little aid to built a school house where there are no school privileges, I do not see how we can render more aid in your place at present.

I trust the people of the place will take hold & complete the house.

Very Respectfully
