Sir: I have no other places for Miss [[underlined]] Skelton; [[/underlined]] she is waiting to come to your place. I hope you are ready and want her and that you will write me to send for her immediately.

You have no idea of the difficulty in getting board for the best ladies in New England: so we are obliged to refuse them in most places and use poor colored teachers.

Respectfully yours,

Sir: The lumber for your school house was ordered of [[underlined]] Hardt and Keefer, [[/underlined]] Frederick City, long ago.

I supposed the house was well along by this time. All you have to do is to go to the lumber dealer and get your lumber, and put up the house without delay according to the plan I gave you. If you have any more delay let me know immediately.

Respectfully yours

I got both your letters but have not been able to answer until now. We use Wilsons Readers in the schools unless some other kind has been introduced. I cannot send you blackboard - the people must make one. I send you
One dozen 1st Readers @ 15¢ | $1.80
Six Guyots geographies @ 40¢ | 2.40
[[total]] | $4.20

You must sell them so as to cover the expense by stage which you will pay. You did not tell me how many 1st and 2d Readers you wanted or what Sabbath School books. Tell me and I will send and charge to you. Do you want

me to send outline maps? They would do for the school and the trustees ought to raise money for them, as you are at Woodville.

Sir: Gen. Howard has consented, as the arrangement was made before he had charge of the field, to pay Johnson's and Clark's bill, as rendered, and to aid you to the amount of $156.50, the amount of the bill for other materials, forwarded to us, if with this you will go on and finish the house immediately. He will not aid without this condition, and this is the full amount which he will give, and it will be paid when the material is put into the house. That is, when the house is built. This is a larger sum than we give in any place and we only make an exception because of the circumstances.

Respectfully yours

Sir: [[underlined]] Smith [[/underlined]] came too late for the boat yesterday, but has gone this morning to Pisgah, Charles County. As [[underlined]] Wayman [[/underlined]] did not come with him and their transportation was together, I cannot send him without new transportation. Shall I get it? I do not like his not coming to time.

I propose to send [[underlined]] Emeline Sullivan [[/underlined]] to Head of St. Clements Bay in St. Mary's County and Mrs. [[underlined]] Davinger [[/underlined]] to a place about 5 miles from Fort Washington on Potomac in Prince George County. Hope to get transportation so that they can come by middle of next week.

You had not the full papers of [[underlined]] Annie [[/underlined]] and [[underlined]] Carrie Cummings [[/underlined]] when I was with you. Are you satisfied that they are all right and first rate? If so I will apply. I have not asked for [[underlined]] Pauline Allen [[/underlined]] as you said
