Madame:

We are able by law only to pay your transportation. The children must buy their books. I send you rules for your guidance; please carry them out. Send to me for books; tell what boat you want them sent on, and to whose care. I send you a daily register and ten blanks. Hope your school will do well and that you will be prospered every way. Shall be glad to hear from you and shall visit your school when I can.

Very Respectfully, Yours,

Dear Sir:

If you will send me copy of deed for a school lot of good size, properly recorded, and according to form which I herewith send, and will build a house of the size, or near the size which I send, and according to plan, and have it done by the 1st of January, then as soon as it is done we will pay $200.00. Genl. [[underlined]] Howard [[/underlined]] will do this.

I will send you a white lady to teach your school, if you will pay board, School fuel, and lights, and furnish place for the school. I cannot send a white man. A woman can manage any of your boys.

Very Respectfully, Yours,
