Dear Sir:

I sent [[underlined]] Smith's [[/underlined]] salary to him by draft last week ($23.28). He was at my house last night on his way home, and says he did not get the draft. I have written to the Post Master at Pisgah to return the letters in his office for [[underlined]] Smith [[/underlined]] to me, but don't know as he will do it. Wish you would look up the money, then I would be able to pay you the $5.00.

Very Respectfully, Yours

Miss:

I send you $5.00. If it comes to you all right, and I will send you the rest. I am afraid to send money in this way, but will do it at your risk. Let me hear from you. At all other places they are glad to get our drafts. They are better than money.

Very Respectfully, Yours

Dear Sir:

You need not get the deed of the church lot, or any more information.
You ask for books. I will send them, if you will tell me how to send them. Is there any boat that lands near you, and who will there to receive them?

Very Respectfully, Yours

Dear Sir:

I have no agent in the field by the name of [[underlined]] Warren. [[/underlined]] I have sent no one to look after your school. [[underlined]] John H. Butler [[/underlined]] (colored) whom you know, is our only agent.

I am glad to hear that the school is getting along well.

Miss:

I do not suppose you can keep school during the holidays, and as you cannot commence this week probably you had better commence with the new year. I am very sorry for this delay, and for all your trouble. Hope you will yet find a good Providence in it all. Be sure of my sympathy. Regards to Mr. W.

Very Respectfully, Yours
