Dear Sir:

I wrote Mr. [[underlined]] Sherman [[/underlined]] that I am in trouble about postage on papers, books, &c. sent into the country. I cannot use the Genl's. frank, and cannot get pay at the other end, though the people would gladly pay if I could get to them I am sure. Mr. [[underlined]] S. [[/underlined]] has not replied. I hope your Society will allow me to draw a small sum for sending: thus great good will be done.

Miss:

I am informed that you would like to teach a school near your mother in St. Mary's Co. Md. If you can convince me that you are well fitted to teach, and would like to come, I will furnish your transportation to the school, and pay you $20.00 per month and your board. There was a very large fine school at this place last year, taught by one of our best teachers.

Very Respectfully, Yours

Now I want you to make this satisfactory to [[underlined]] Henry Datcher, Coates Slater [[/underlined]] and the other trustees. It is the business of the trustees to furnish you good board, and see that it is paid for, and that is
