Washington D.C.
April 25" 1867.

This is to certify that I am acquainted with Miss M J Smith, she having been a Leader in Georgetown last year. I have visited the school under her charge and have always been pleased with the same, the scholars seemed to be making good progress. I think Miss S is able to teach a very good school and that if she gives sufficient attention to perfecting herself, she will make an excellent teacher.
