[[preprinted]] 360 [[/preprinted]] Bureau R F & A L Washington May 15 1870 Miss G M Snowden Easton, Md. Dear Miss Your letter to Genl Howard has been referred to me to answer. We cannot make any arrangements at present for another School term, but I hope all will be fixed before long, when you will be informed of the result. As to the aid asked for to complete the Teachers House, I find that the building now used as a School was put up, not by the Colored people of Easton, but by this Bureau — at a cost of Eighteen hundred dollars ($1800 00) which is a great deal more than we have given to any other School outside of Baltimore, and while so many neighborhoods are yet without schools and crying for aid, I do not think we ought to be asked for more help by your people Yours Respfy [[signature]] W L Van Derlip [[/signature]] Bvt Maj & Supt of Edu
