Lieutenant,

I have ordered about a months supplies for your command. Scales, weights & measures && and everything necessary for issuing will be forwarded to you at the same time. with this you will receive a copy of the Regulations & Terms of this Department. A small Depot at Rinconada thus established will be more convenient for you than it would be to draw your supplies on a return every 10 days from here.

You will require but 3 abstracts viz "volunteers" extra issues (with candles for guard & Dired apples to yr comd) and "sales to officers." and monthly summary statement. Forward your papers to this office every month and quarter for examination and they will be mailed for Washington

Make the best arrangement you can for fresh beef. I presume you can get it butchered & delivered for 5 or 5 1/2 c per lb, or on the hoof for less. Report your arrangements and receipt for the beef you receive mentioning on your receipt in what month you have accounted for it, and payment will be made at this office or money furnished to you

Very Respectfully

Captain,

I have to request transportation for a quantity of subs: stores to Rinconada for Lt Ross now stationed there.

Two wagons will be required for subsistence and the stores being all ready, it is desirable that the wagons should be had and start early tomorrow morning, at which time I believe the detail sent down for the supplies will be ready.

Captain,

I have received your letters of the 23rd & 24th inst. with your November papers.

The papers are again returned to you for correction.

[[Vou?]] 8. (Issues) on the [[underlined]] Return [[/underlined]] is wanting, and as no mention is made to [I?]. [L?]. S. the stores were delivered to, you will please add his name &c.

"Abstract to Citizens" should only include citizens who are not soldiers as teamsters, laborers, Clerks, & other employee's of the staff Departments who receive rations. You have included "detachments of Dragoons" - who if regulars should be in the abstract to troops.

-- Detachment of Texas Cavalry, who should be include in abstract to volunteers --
-- Ordinance Department men who should be included in "abstract to Troops" --
-- Matrons in General Hospital who should be included in the "Hospital abstracts." --

"Extra Issues" like others are to be governed by Regs [see par 1112] and all issues not authorized by Regulations will be accompanied by the spec. orders [see par 1136] . The extra issues of candles to company b. require a spec. order & explanations, otherwise they will be charged to you or the offices giving the special order.

I have also to request that your papers may all be put up of the size of [[these?]] folded letter paper, and that you will never past sheets together.

On the summary statement for October returned to you, there was reported a balance of due from you to the U.S. of $45 32/100 and o the present S.S. you report the balance from that sum: [[stat:?]] nothing

I hope that by giving your attention to these duties, you will render it unnecessary for me to return your papers for correction

Very respectfully
