Captain
My failing health compels me to ask permission to proceed to Matamoras & Brazos as soon as I may be able to do so. The Med: officers insist on this change is necessary to give me any chance of recovery

It is now too evident that I can not recover here and in a short time shall be unable to attend
to the officer duty which I now do

I can leave fund & full [[?]] for this officer who may be ordered to suceed me - nor is it necessary that I should await his detail or arrival, or the arrangement for supplies already made instead now 50 days in advance

Very resply
