are [[underlined]] or will be [[/underlined]] dependent on Tampa Bay depot.

Altho' this is but an effective force of 1200 men, yet the women and company employees will make an average of 50 [[underlined]]Rations[[/underlined]] Pr. Company or 700 dependent on the Eastern & 900 on this Depot.

I recommend the establishment of a depot of Subsistence at Savannah Geo: at once, as the best point from which to supply all the depots & posts on the Eastern Coast - as [[?]], Indian River, Miami, etc. etc. which are south of St. Johns River.

Bvt. Maj. E. Van Dorn a.c.s. is in charge of the [[underlined]] Palatka [[/underlined]] depot and, for the present, must direct all supplies for the Eastern Coast. He is instructed to make requisitions on your office, as most of his supplies (perhaps all but rice) will be bought at the North.

On my return from Charlotte Harbor I hope to be able to make a further report.

Very Respectfully
Your Obt. Servt.

Lieutenant, In reply to yr letter of the 26th I have to state that if the alleged error in the issue of Beef last August can be connected by the Contractor it shall be. The lapse of time however renders it very doubtful, and it is fortunate that the error was of very little consequences - causing no in convenience to the troops, I presume, as it was never reported on before.
