molasses, in Florida and occassional extra issues -, is 2 qts, to 100 rations. I have no information whether they have ovens or makeing for ovens at Indian river, but whenever you learn that they want them, you are authorized to send them bricks enough for the arches of 3 ovens for the 3 posts - say 9000 bricks and lime in proportion - 25 or 30 Bbls.

You will oblige me by sending me an occasional Report of Subs. on hand at your depot.

Very Respectfully

Major,

On my return from Pea River Decr. 29. I received your report of Decr 13ͭͪ. 1849.

Since then Gen: Ord at 2. dated Hͩ.Qrs. W. Divᵑ. Tampa Bay Fla: Jany 3ͩ. 1850 has done away with [[underlined]] The Palatka depot [[/underlined]].

I have therefore to request that you will, as early as possible, forward to Ft. Pierce such Articles as you may think they can consume before they spoil - and ship the other articles to Savannah Geo: with instructions to Capt. Miller or the A.C.S. there to sell them before they are spoiled.

If you have any Flour on hand, forward it to Indian River as, I leave, they have chiefly Hard Bread on hand, and May have probably erected ovens by the time.

Should you know that they have not been able to erect ovens for want of materials, please require for them - say 9.000 bricks and 25 or 30 Bbls Lime - which will suffice for 3 ovens with the aid of wide clay floors & clay chimneys. Brick are only necessary for the arch.

Inclose a circular increassing the extra ration of molasses

Mr Lanier Beef Contractor

Dr Sir, Lieut. Meade has returned from Indian River and reports favorably of the practicability of getting a drove of cattle across the peninsula by the Boundary Road A party of mtd men will start in a few days from Fort Meade for the other side, and I desire you to take advantage of the opportunity to send over a drove of cattle. There are 8 companies between Kissimmee & Indian rivers and, I presume, from 80 to 100 head would not be too many to drive over. Two or more men to butcher should accompany the drove & you will be allowed for, the present, 6½¢ a pound.

If you can not send me more than 40 or 50 head this time, I still wish you to do so.

Very resplly Yr Ob Sevy
