11/25-68. | 137 * Butler, J.H. Jr. | Port Republic, Calvert Co. Md.  Nov. 18th 1868.  Received letter of the 11th inst..  States that he does not wish to be furnished with books, desks &c. at his own expense:  that he has not received letter of Oct. 30th nor the Register, blanks &c.  Desires to know how they were addressed.  States that the trustees and people are well pleased with his school.

States that he has some transportation papers which have not been used and he desires blanks so that he can collect Government rates:  that their school is doing well:  that the school at Pleasant Valley is to be discontinued until the house is completed:  that the schools at Martinsburg and Charlestown are going on:  that the Commissioners are doing nothing.  Requests to be furnished with teacher's blanks.

Commissioners to forward at once to Bureau Head Quarters a list of all School-buildings in their respective States, now in possession of or borne upon the property returns of this Bureau, stating the name of the Association, Corporate Body, or Board of Trustees holding the legal title to the land on which each building is located.  This report to contain a brief description of each lot by metes and bounds.

States that owing to delay in getting their lumber, the trustees have been disappointed in securing their workmen and the house is not begun, but they hope to be able to go on with it in the course of a week:  that he is going to Barnesville.
