10/26-68. | 37. * Douglas, J.B. | Upper Marlboro, Prince George Co. Md. Oct. 24th 1868.  Received letter of the 16th inst. States that the blanks sent him to sign for receipt of transportation are made out for a less amount than the actual cost.  Acknowledges the receipt of books. 

10/27-68. | 38 * Douglas, Stephen A. | Springfield, Mass.  Oct. 26th 1868.  States, in reply to letter of the 17th inst. that any position as teacher offered him would be thankfully accepted:  that he learned to read and write while a slave:  that since 1863 he has been at the North educating himself for the purpose of teaching among the freedmen.  Refers to the Faculty of Lincoln University for testimonials.

11/7-68. | 40 * Davenger, Mary A. Forwarded to Col. R. R. Corson | Piscataway, Prince George Co. Md.  Nov. 6th 1868.  States that books sent were not suitable:  that she must have spellers, and requests to be furnished with alphabet-card, bell and clock.

11/11-68. | 41. * Douglas, John B. | Upper Marlboro, Prince George Co. Md.  Nov. 9th 1868.  Requests to have his salary remitted to Mrs. [[underlined]] M. M. Douglas, [[/underlined]] Baltimore.  States that his transportation and incidental expenses cost him $5.00 but he has only received $3.50.  Requests to have the balance sent him:  also a clock, some stationery &c..

11/16-68. | 43 * Dodge, Dr. A. W. | Baltimore, Md. Nov. 14th 1868.  Certifies that he is the attending physician of Mr. [[underlined]] John H. Butler. [[/underlined]] States that he is confined to his room and is convalescing slowly:  that his address is No. 211 Howard St. Baltimore.

12/18-68 | 48 * Douglas John B. | Upper Marlboro, Prince George Co. Md.  Dec. 16th/68.  Makes excuse for delay in sending school report

12/26-68. | 49 * Davis, Curtis | Baltimore, Md.  Dec. 24th 1868.  Requests to have lumber sent for school-house at Federalsburg, Md.  States that many workmen there are out of employment, and he will see that the work is done if the lumber is sent.

12/30-68. | 50. * Davis, Edwin. | Brighton, Montgomery Co. Md.  Dec. 28th 1868.  Received letter, and is willing to accept Mrs. [[underlined]] Clark [[/underlined]] as teacher.  States that they would like to start the school on the 1st of the month, that Mr. [[underlined]] E. Gilpin [[/underlined]] should be notified then the teacher is sent.
