Forwards rental account of their Maryland schools, with request to have the blanks filled up with proper amounts.  Requests to be notified if the Pa. Branch F.U. Commission, do not take Miss [[underlined]] Mann's [[/underlined]] school in the fall.

7.26.69. | 282 * Commission, Pa. Branch F.U.  Col. R.R. Corson, Cor. Secy. E.B.#201. Vol.1.1869. | Philadelphia, Pa.  July 24th 1869.  States that Miss [[underlined]] Schofield, [[/underlined]] who with Miss [[underlined]] Taylor [[/underlined]] has had a fine school at Aiken, S.C., has been notified by the owner of the school-building that the Bureau did not want to hold the building longer, and had given him possession &c.  States that this is one of their best schools, and Miss S. is very anxious to continue it, but there is no other building in the place suitable for school purposes:  that if the Bureau will retain it the association will send there two of its best teachers.

8.2.69. | 283 * Cornish, Mary E. | Philadelphia, Pa.  Aug. 1st 1869.  Notifies the Supt. of Education that a petition has been sent him by the school trustees of West River, Md., requesting her return in the fall for the purpose of taking charge of the school.

8.3.69. | 284. * Councellor, Mary E. | 1706 Addison St. Philadelphia, Pa.  Aug. 1869.  Applies for an appointment as teacher of the school at West River called "Union Chapel".  States that she has taught under the auspices of the Baltimore Association, &c.

8.3.69. | 285 * Commission, Pa. Branch F.U.  Col. R.R. Corson, Cor. Secy. | Philadelphia, Pa.  Aug. 2d 1869.  Acknowledges receipt of letter of the 28th inst.  Thinks they should receive twelve months rent for all buildings where their schools have been kept for eight or nine months.  Requests to be furnished with a copy of their rental account.  Hopes the Bureau will take measures to retain their school-building at Aiken, S.C.

8.9.69. | 286 * Commission, Pa. Branch F.U.  Col. R.R. Corson, Cor. Secy. | Philadelphia, Pa.  Aug. 9th 1869.  Inquires if the Bureau can furnish transportation for Mr. [[underlined]] A. Varner, [[/underlined]] one of their teachers, from Wilkes Barrie, Pa. to Pamplin Station, Va., where he wants to go about the 15th inst. to look his school-house which is being erected.  Forwards teacher's transportation papers, not used by them last year.

Inquires if they are to understand that no more transportation will be furnished their teachers? also if blanks could not be filled out and sent them for each of their schools, the name of the teacher to be filled in by them:  Fears the withdrawing of transportation will greatly reduce the number of their schools.  States that their Association is low in funds, and they have few friends to call on.  Hopes that some means may be devised by the Bureau by which they can send their teachers free of expense.

8.14.69. | 288. * Carter, John J.  Teacher. | Sharpsburg, Washington Co. Md.  Aug. 13th 1869.  States in reply to letter of the 9th inst. that he has forwarded his report to Dr. [[underlined]] Hatfield: [[/underlined]] that his school is quite small.  Applies for an appointment as teacher after his present term is out.
