Thompson [[/underlined]] " " " " [[dittos for salary for November.]]  States that unless the white teacher gets a place soon, they will have to request that a place be made for him in one of the Maryland schools.

States in reply, that she has written to the Misses [[underlined]] Jones & Richards [[/underlined]] to start for Montgomery Co. Md. and open school on the 11th inst.:  that they will write to [[underlined]] Benj. Davis [[/underlined]] to meet them.  Inquires if they cannot have [[underlined]] Sebastian Payne's [[/underlined]] friend for Virginia?  If so, they will pay another teacher's salary in his place, &c.

Requests to have the following named teachers located in Maryland, viz:  [[underlined]] Mary T. Douglas  Emely C. Johnson [[/underlined]]  States that they may send Miss Douglas to Virginia.  Will soon decide and write.

Schadd [[/underlined]] will go to Huntingtown, Md., on Saturday's boat, if he is notified to do so.  Encloses a letter from Mary [[underlined]] T. Douglas [[/underlined]] applying for appointment as teacher.  States that she is ready to go.

Furnishes the following names of persons whom they propose to send to Maryland as teachers, viz:  [[underlined]] Jas. W. Allen, Beckie Moses, [[/underlined]] and [[underlined]] Cornelius T. Anderson. [[/underlined]]  Encloses Anderson's application.  States that a colored man by the name of [[underlined]] Hart, [[/underlined]] who has been accepted by another association, wants to go to Maryland.  Inquires where he can be sent.  Requests to be furnished with a list of those appointed with their locations.

10.8.69. | 319 * Commission, N.Y. Branch F.U.  Mrs. J.S. Lowell  Secy. | North Shore, New York.  Oct. 6th 1869.  States that she is sorry her letter was not received stating that they would take [[underlined]] Sebastian Payne [[/underlined]] and his friend, and pay them $20 per month each, and transportation both ways.  Inquires the name of the young man, and his destination.  Will send them both out.  Hopes the Misses [[underlined]] York, Richards [[/underlined]] and [[underlined]] Jones [[/underlined]] have all reached their places.

10.8.69. | 327 * Cornish  Mary E.  Teacher. | West River, Ann Arundel Co. Md.  Oct. 6th 1869.  States that she has returned and reopened her old school &c. &c.
