2,70 #6th * | Hamilton James R.  Teacher. | Reisterstown, Balt. Co. Md.  February 24th 1870.  Reports himself as on duty at that place as teacher of Col'd School &c., took effect on the 21st.

2,11,'70 #7 * | Hamilton Jas. R.  Teacher. | Crompton, Queen Anne Co. Md.  February 3d 1870.  States that he opened the col'd school at this place:  that a party of armed roughs surrounded the house and threatened to lynch him if he continued to teach, but said they had no objection to a col'd teacher.  Inquires what course he shall take.

2,14,'70 #8 * | Higgins Thos. | Baltimore Md.  February 12th '70.  States that a reply to his letter asking for a position as teacher has been received and that he has complied with its directions by applying to [[underlined]] Mr. Core [[/underlined]] for examination, and that he passed satisfactorily.  States at length reasons why he should be appointed, and requests an immediate answer.

2,26,'70 #9 * | Hawkins, John. | Mt. Pleasant, Chas. Co. Md.  February 1870.  States that the people of this place have collected the heavy timber for school house, and have employed a carpenter, and raised the money to pay him.

2,28,'70 #10 * | Harrison Chas. A. | Centerville, Queen Anne Co. Md.  February 25th, 1870.  States that letter from Supt. returning deed to Mr. Primbrook mentioned a blank form of deed as enclosed, but it was not found:  that he will see it attended to as soon as forwarded.

3,9,'70 #12 * Hill Andrew F. | Centerville, Queen Ann Co. Md.  March 6th 1870  Says he has just arrived, and is about to open school.  Requests to be furnished with register and blanks.

3,12,'70 #13 * | Harrison Chas. A. | Centerville, Queen Anne Co. Md.  March 10th 1870.  States that the trustees have employed a carpenter who will commence to build school house as soon as the lumber arrives.  Thinks it will be completed about the middle of April.

3,24,'70 #14 * | Holt L. Gantt. | Dunkirk, Calvert Co. Md.  March 15th 1870  Applies for a teacher in behalf of the colored people of Hall's Creek.  States that they can furnish thirty regular pupils:  that there is no school within five miles:  that a female teacher is preferred.

4,4,'70 #15 * | Hardesty Wm. H. et. al.  School Trustees. | Tracy's Landing, A.A. Co., Md.  March 31st 1870  State that they are well pleased with the teacher sent them, &c.

4,7,'69 #16 * | Hoy Miss M.L.  Teacher. | St. Leonards, Calvert Co. Md.  March 31st 1870.  Inquires why her school reports are not allowed to pass through the mail free of postage.
