B. 34. O.S.E. D.C. Vol. 1. 1868.
Horse Head Prince George Co. Md
March 4, 1868

Butler. John H.

States that he has been to see about the School House at Nottingham, and that the work is progressing but they have no lumber for window sashes and door frame.

States that he is now at Horse Head, and that the people there have many difficulties to contend with in building their house, that the colored people have no teams to haul the lumber and very few of the whites are willing to aid them ^[[insert]] on any terms [[/insert]] — that one man agreed to haul the lumber if they would shell 175 bushels of corn, but when the work was done he only hauled two loads.

Thinks they will succeed in getting the house built soon.
