Dear Sir

Mr Henry Buttler requested me to answer your letter, and state that workmen are now working on the house and that they will have worked up all the materials in about two or three weeks. And that the Col'd people will feel under lasting obligations to you if you will intercede in their behalf with Genl. Howard, and get him to send them, pr. Steamer Mary Washington, about one thousand ft of flooring, six window frames & Sash, and one double door frame, and that the committee pledge themselves to finish the house right away.
