Lenardtown Saint Mary's Co. Md.

Dear sir

I drop you these lines to inform you that I arrived in this County on the 13th of this month and proceeded to Oakville to the school taught buy  Miss Gibson and found the attendance not as good as I expected and I am requested by Capt Lawrance to hold a meeting there this week.  I then on the 14th went to Lenardtown and Capt. Lawrence being in Washington Mrs. Lawrence told me about places that the Capt could do nothing with one of them was Milestown.  I went out to that place and held a meeting and got the people to work went out in the woods with them got out sleepers hawled them up, leveled up sills, put on sleepers and had all ready when Capt. Came.  When I went to X Roads school House Miss Groves teacher and found her school in a condition second to none in the County everything hopeful
