Benedict Charles County Md.
Rev. John Kimball

Dear sir

I write these lines to inform you that I have been to Port Tobacco, visited the school addressed the scholars and found the school in tolerable good condition with a prospect of larger attendance. Miss Martha Swann seems to be doing all she can to improve her school it numbers 46 scholars. I then went out to Chickernmoxen Creek and found that school house done except plastering and some of the benches to make and chimney to build, they are ready for a teacher as soon as you can send them one. I also want to Nanjemoy school House and found it nearly closed in and was time enough to have the Sleepers

Transcription Notes:
("Chickermoxen" a misspelling of "Chicamuxen" Creek?)
