B.52 O.S.E.D.C. Vol. 1. 1868.

Harper's Ferry, W. Va.
April 28th 1868.

Brubaker. Capt. J. C.
Sub-Asst. Comr.

Encloses letter from Mr. [[underlined]] Johnson [[/underlined]], teacher at Sharpsburg, in relation to complaint made by the colored people, that they are required to pay tuition in order to support their school.

Johnson states that he is sustained by no Society, and is obliged to rely wholly upon the colored people:— that with few exceptions they are willing to pay according to their means, but he fears they are not able to subscribe a sufficient amount to enable him to continue the school.
