Oakville Md. Sept 25th. 1868

Genrel Howard Sir:  We have made up our minds what kind of a Teacher we want you to send us.  We think it best to have a white man (for some reasons) we hav been had two verrye bad Teachers, and our school hav gon so far back, we have allmost come disincureg, there for, we want you to send us a good religous white gentleman and then we think our school will go forward.  Pleas send one that you think will do rightt

And tell him to land at Forrest's Wharf.  Pleas write a few dayes before you send him, so I may meet him at the wharf.
