Dear Sir:  While I was absent yesterday [[?]] a gentleman by name of ^[[insert]] Jacob [[/insert]] Ropp from Hedgesville W. Va. was here to see about an appropriatoin, that you and Capt Brubaker promised, toward a School House, in that place— Mr. Ropp represented that all of the conditions had been filled, that the house was completed, minus the seats, that they were in great need of the money— Wished me to furnish a teacher &c. Will you inform me what is to be done in the case—

Our Normal school is enjoying unusual prospects. We have nine pupils [[strikethrough]] to-day [[/strikethrough]] receiving [[?]] instruction in Instrumental Music— Have pupils from Lexington, Winchester, and Martinsburg—  Our [[?]] building full of [[?young]] men.  N.C.B.
