I Beg leave to submit to you the Monthly Report of my travels and inspections of the Freedmen's schools, School Houses, and their condition.  

Generally, for Anarundel County the condition of the schools are much better than they were a year ago.  And since the people have been lectured from time to time on the importance of Education, they are becoming more interested in the education of themselves and children.  And I think by keeping the subject of improvement before the people, they will soon be far in advance of their present condition.  

The colored people of this county have made quite an improvement in making their bargains of renting land and hiring out by the month and year.  They make much better contracts than they did last year.  Many of them have taken the advice given them to buy land.  Several have bought and others are
